Archiv Michael Schmidt
Archive talk conducted by Thomas Weski
The Foundation for Photography and Media Art (Fotografie und Medienkunst), co-founded in 1999 by the Berlin photographer Michael Schmidt (1945 - 2014), has been looking after his archive since 2015. The archive was used to develop the retrospective "Michael Schmidt - Photographs 1965 - 2014", which was shown in Berlin, Paris, Madrid and Vienna from 2020. In addition, the artist books "Berlin-Wedding" (1979), "Waffenruhe" (1987) and "Einheit" (1996) were reissued. In the event, the genesis of these groups of works, which deal with the changeable history of Berlin and the Federal Republic, will be presented using archive materials.
